Problem Space
Create an interactive object for a child aged three to seven years old based on their personality, lifestyle, and interests. Interactive object must consist repetitive pieces made through a pin router as its main form of construction.
Challenges
How can we expand our co-designer's imagination through his interests and hobbies?
How can we promote human connections for introverted personalities?
How will we challenge our co-designer's intellectual ability, while allowing them to interact with others by sharing their knowledge?

Ideation Sketches
Our ideation stages focused around storytelling, drawing, and building and we decided on creating one object that consisted of all three ideas. We knew that this was important to our co-designer Jimmy as these were primarily his main interests and we feel that by focusing on these three ideas, we can encourage him to engage with others through this design.
Prototyping Explorations
We prototyped 10 different low-fidelity  iterations through cardboard and chose 4 ideas to focus on.
Finalized Concepts + User Testing
We brought these three concepts for Jimmy to play with and noticed that he enjoyed playing with the middle concept the most. The middle concept allowed for storytelling, building, and drawing, which was everything Jimmy would enjoy!
Creation Process
Final Product
3D Pegboard is intended to expand our codesigner’s imagination with a combination of his interests: storytelling, building, and drawing. The object is made up with two different types of pegboards with varying hole sizes which are used to build structures along with the dowels, blocks, and elastic provided allowing Jimmy to create whatever he imagines. He can easily pack it away and bring it with him on a day to day basis to share with his friends.
